Dream BIG Kidpreneur Academy
Philmore's Kidpreneur Academy will be offered to students beginning in grade 3. Philmore Kidpreneurial Academy (PKA), will teach our scholars to think outside the box and nurture their unconventional talents and skills. It will also create opportunities, instill confidence and stimulate the economy. Along with financial literacy through Junior Achievement (JA), students will understand economics in a global market. PEA, will assist students in becoming risk-takers as well as learn persistence -- both vital traits for entrepreneurs. Since entrepreneurship fosters these kinds of character traits, PKA promises to benefit all students.
Committed to Service
Research has shown that students who engage in community service are more responsible with higher self-esteem and resilience. Beginning in grade 3, our students will be able to participate in volunteering opportunities. This will help our students gain new skills necessary for the job market such as leadership, communication skills, dependability, time management, and decision making. As a result of these opportunities, our students will perform better in school, as well as have a greater appreciation for what they have.
I AM my Sister's/Brother's Keeper
The creation of a culture of sisterhood and brotherhood plays such an important part in the lives of boys and girls. Teaching students that the people that they surround themselves with influence and impact their lives in ways that they can not always see at times, Creating a culture of sister and brotherhood is paramount for the success of each of our students. We will partner with different organizations that will serve as mentors to our students in all grade levels.
To provide our future global leaders exposure to the world abroad, our students will take foreign language classes. Research has shown that acquiring a second language improves memory and increases attention span for students. The process of becoming bilingual helps students to exercise the brain, challenge them to concentrate and boost their problem solving skills. As such, our bilingual students will score higher on standardized tests, especially in the areas of vocabulary, reading and math.
