Philmore Academy for Early College

9th Grade Cohort Returning August 2024!

Welcome to the exciting, energizing world of learning and engaging in advanced academic studies! Scholars in grades 9-12, will explore academics through innovative, creative approaches and active engagement in learning.

Philmore Academy for Early College is committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares our students to enroll, and be successful, in colleges and universities throughout the nation. With a curricular structure that challenges each individual and with dual enrollment offerings as diverse as our student body. Our Early College curriculum offers a variety of opportunities to prepare students for life beyond graduation with Advanced Placement courses and GA Futures (Dual Enrollment) coursework.  Our scholars are challenged to become independent thinkers who are developing abstract and analytical reasoning skills.

AP Courses

Philmore Academy's AP Courses or Advanced Placement Courses offer rigorous, college-level curricula that allow high school students the opportunity to earn college credit in high school. Students complete online AP courses at Philmore Academy and take the AP exam to earn college credit. Students will need to purchase the required AP textbooks and other supplemental course materials separately.

How do we expect young people to dream if they don’t know what they can dream about? At Philmore Academy we believe that it is never too early to begin preparing for their futures. Our college and career readiness exposure, curriculum and strategies will ensure that all students have a plan for future success.  Opportunities for college and career exploration gives our scholars broader exposure to colleges and the working world they will one day enter. It helps them “connect the dots” between school and career in ways that keep them motivated to graduate with the skills they will need for the future.

At Philmore Academy for Early College, we know and believe that College and Career exposure, exploration and experiences will:

  •  improve academic performance. They also increase the likelihood that these students will complete high school and pursue post-secondary education.

  •  improve the attitudes of young people about their career possibilities, motivating them to persevere.

  •  improves students’ knowledge of career options, encouraging them to develop and work toward goals during the critical years when they are also beginning to venture beyond the orbit of their parents.

  • are more likely to plan their high school courses of study carefully to gain the skills they will need. Students participating in career exploration programs as middle-schoolers are more likely to enroll in higher level math courses in high school and have higher self esteem.
